Caring is more than skin deep

Purity & Elizabeth Anne’s provides only the best mild & gentle products to care for baby’s skin but we believe that caring isn’t only skin deep which is why we support the Avril Elizabeth Home.

Because Purity & Elizabeth Anne’s has always been sincere about caring and because the Avril Home desperately needs funds to provide the best care for their residents, we would like YOUR HELP in making our 22nd Year of Partnership a successful one.

Just buy any Purity & Elizabeth Anne’s toiletry product from 1 August – 30 Sept and we will donate a portion of sales to the Home.

Caring is more than skin deep – Because Purity & Elizabeth Anne’s has always been sincere about caring and because the Avril Elizabeth Home desperately needs funds to provide the best care for their residents, we would like YOUR HELP in making our 22nd Year of Partnership a successful one!

Just buy any Purity & Elizabeth Anne’s toiletry product from 1 August – 30 Sept and we will donate a portion of sales to the Home.

In 2012, with your help, we donated R650 000 to the Avril Elizabeth Home for the mentally handicapped – bringing the total amount raised over the years to almost R6million. In 2013, we celebrated 21 years of partnership with a donation of R650  000.

Just as Purity & Elizabeth Anne’s mild and gentle products have been lovingly caring for your and your baby’s skin for over 50 years, so the Avril Elizabeth Home has been caring for their residents since it was established in 1970. The Avril Elizabeth Home is not an institution, but rather a warm and loving home for its residents.

Avril

Currently it is home to approximately 147 permanent residents and 23 day care residents of all ages and races, all of whom are intellectually disabled and many of them have a physical disability.  The home provides twenty four hour monitoring and care to the residents, providing an active, modern stimulation program tailored to meet the different needs of residents.  In this way, each resident is lovingly nurtured to expose his or her full potential. The Home continues to need the partnership of Purity & Elizabeth Anne’s and support of the donor community to enable them to continue providing orphaned and abandoned residents with the quality of care they deserve.

Purity & Elizabeth Anne’s  provides only the best mild and gentle products to care your you and your baby’s skin. However, we believe that caring isn’t only skin deep and that is why we support the Avril Elizabeth Home. The Cost of the home’s round-the-clock professional care as understandably increased with the increase in cost of living so they need your generosity more than ever to help them continue to spread their love and care to those who need it most.

Because Purity & Elizabeth Anne’s has always been sincere about caring and because the home desperately needs funds to provide the best care for their residents, look out for the annual Purity & Elizabeth Anne’s promotion whereby a portion of sales  of our products over a 2 month period is donated to the home.

Help us to enrich these children’s lives! All you have to do is buy and Purity & Elizabeth Anne’s product during the promotion period each year, and we will donate a portion of the sale to the Avril Elizabeth Home.

Khayelitsha Cookie Company

EMPOWERING WOMEN, SUPPORTING A COMMUNITY
In January 2012 Purity announced the launch of their new Purity Goodies Rusks and Biscotti products carefully hand pressed and baked by the women of the Khayelitsha Cookie Company (KCC) as part of an Enterprise Development Partnership with Tiger Brands Ltd. This Enterprise Development Program forms part of Tiger Brands’ black economic empowerment approach and is meant to promote and support black owned SMME’s allowing them to grow and contribute to the overall development of the community.

The factory began in June 2004 when Khayelitsha Cookies started baking in 2 ovens in the Nobantu Women’s Centre in Khayelitsha. Since then the company has grown to 40 women backing delicious cookies and rusks with the same excellence and attention to detail. Six years later, Khayelitsha Cookies approached Tiger Brands with a request to be considered for inclusion in the company’s EDP program.  After careful consideration of the project, Tiger Brands agreed to enter into a partnership with KCC.  Tiger Brands has invested a substantial amount to enable Khayelitsha Cookies to upgrade their factory and order new equipment which will be used for Purity baking. More than money has been the assistance on procurement, technical input, manufacturing skills. This will help ensure optimum productivity and sustained quality.

Cookie

The vision shared by Purity and KCC is to create a company that produces the best cookies in South Africa while also radically changing the lives of the women involved in the company. KCC has excellent hygiene and HACCP records in line with Tiger Brand’s policy. We want the best range of baked biscuits for our consumers, and every opportunity for significant growth and career expansion for the staff of KCC.

The women who were previously unemployed are now ready for fulltime employment. They also have an opportunity to own a 30% stake in the company through a trust fund which is targeted to grow to 50%, which will start benefiting them individually once the company is profitable.  More importantly the salary these ladies earn will enable them to support their community.

Each of the ladies working for Khayelitsha Cookies feeds a family of 5 on average per month using their income. Purity’s partnership allows KCC to employ an additional 45 women with a secure income. These 45 women can each then feed another 100-150 people monthly in Khayelitsha.

Each Tiger Enterprise Development Program is monitored by that division’s Financial Executive. They are formally audited once a year and ongoing Quality Assurance tests will ensure absolute adherence to specifications.

It is with these benefits in mind that the partnership between Tiger and Khayelitsha Cookies was built. As long as this venture is supported and helped to develop in a sustainable and profitable manner the amazing women who form part of the business will be empowered and will help their community flourish.  Tiger Brands and Khayelitsha Cookie Company are committed to making this partnership a successful model for enterprise development in the country.

NEWS FROM VLAKTEPLAAS SKOOL – DE RUST

“We’ve completed building at the school, and I wish to thank all our hundreds of sponsors the word over who’ve made the impossibility of yesterday, the reality of today!  Above all, I again salute the donors who laid the major foundations to the future of our children.

The donor’s teachers and parents thank Tiger Brands most sincerely for their magnanimous food contribution to the health of our children.

Two full time cooks prepare hot wholesome meals for about 120 primary and 30 pre-school children, whilst also feeding 10 to 15 babies with special nutritious feed daily.

Tiger Brands has indeed alleviated the hunger in our poor rural community.  Our kids have new energy… a new lust for life, and a new future.  DANKIE TIGER.”
